Terms and Conditions for Online Classes

(to be read together with Marmalade Food Club general Terms and Conditions - See main INFO menu page)

All of the good practices and safeguarding measures that we have in place and take care and pride in operating when delivering on site classes will apply to the online format, with amendments and adaptations where necessary. Here are the things we need you to know:

Zoom is the platform that is used. The zoom meeting is the online class/session.

Sessions will be run from the host’s (Marmalade Food Club leader) kitchen with a neutral and appropriate background and setting. Only leaders who work in classes at our venue sites with the children will take the online class. The host name will be listed in the zoom meeting details upon registration.

Zoom meeting invitations will contain a registration link for the class. The adult’s email address and name are to be used. Confirmation of registration will be sent automatically from zoom to the registered email address. This will include the meeting ID and passcode or a direct access link. These are needed to access the zoom class. Recipe and equipment details (so you can prepare for the session) and other important information will also be provided in the email together with an important disclaimer which must be agreed to and is done so by accessing the class; that provides essential adult consent for anyone under the age of 18 in your care to participate in the online class and also confirms your responsibility to appropriately supervise them throughout. Please make sure you read everything in full.

Classes are intended for children of school age though the supervising adult and siblings, at the supervising adult’s discretion, are welcome to join in. Marmalade Food Club reserve the right to restrict or invite additional participants to the class. Participant measures apply to anyone taking part, see below.

Adult (the participant’s responsible parent/carer over 18/any participant aged 18 and over) responsibilities and measures to be in place:

Adults must consent for anyone under the age of 18 in their care to participate in the online class and it is their responsibility to appropriately supervise them throughout. There must be a suitable workspace to carry out the class from. This must be suitable for the purpose of preparing food. There must be sufficient space in which to carry out the recipe instructions safely and the workspace, including the floor and surrounding area, must be clear of all obstructions that may cause injury or harm. Be aware of any spillages as slips can occur and cause injury.

Adults are responsible for:

  • your own online privacy, safety and security measures.

  • ensuring that you have the right equipment (including antivirus software) to access the class and use zoom safely and to screen out anything that may damage or harm your computer or other device.

  • ensuring that all information with regards to your zoom and/or booking account is kept confidential and you should not disclose your account details to any third party.

  • ensuring that you are knowledgeable and comfortable to proceed with all aspects of using zoom as a platform for accessing the sessions.

  • ensuring the participant’s safety online.

  • supervision throughout the session at your discretion but taking into account all factors known to you including participant’s own needs, age, ability and experience, as well as the recipe, ingredients, process and utensils and equipment being used* and any other necessary considerations.

  • providing a suitable clean and safe space to partake in the session from.

  • purchasing, safe storage and use of ingredients.

  • using your own facilities, equipment/utensils.

  • ensuring the recipe is suitable for participants in your care and for anyone who needs to be considered.

  • checking ingredients to be used for any relevant information including date coding such as use-by dates, allergen information and any on-pack disclaimers.

  • following safe food hygiene practices including hand washing before preparing food. For more information see:

https://www.food.gov.uk/sites/default/files/media/document/handwashing.pdf

https://www.food.gov.uk/food-safety

  • ensuring the class content is suitable for anyone accessing the class and for anyone who needs to be considered.

  • ensuring participant measures are followed, see section below.

*A list of equipment and untensils required for the recipe will be made available prior to the class start. Please check that those you have are suitable and age appropriate for you or any participant in your care to use. Where deemed applicable, guidance/suggestions will be given on the recipe details prior to the class start and during the session. Always ensure adult supervision for procedures such as knife work, using hobs, ovens and anything of a higher risk nature. Where procedures may be best carried out by an adult i.e. grating – this will be mentioned in the recipe details and reiterated by the class leader during the session.
